As an influential periodical in microbiology, the journal aims at disseminating knowledge and the advancement of microbiological sciences. It reports new works in microbiology, virology, biotechnology and proceedings of application of microbiological sciences in industry, agriculture, medicine and veterinary medicine. It also carries information on the disciplinary development both at home and abroad and introduces basic knowledge and history of microbiology.
