French Antibiotic Resistance Research Delegation Visits IMCAS

French antibiotic resistance research delegation visited the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) on March 7. They exchanged views on microbial antibiotic resistance with Associate Prof. Feng Jie, Dr. HU Yongfei and Associate Prof. LI Juan from Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Dr. FENG introduced her newly research achievements in mechanism of bacterial resistance, including acquired resistance and inherent resistance. Dr. HU mainly introduced their project on evolution of mobile devices carrying resistance genes, distribution and abundance of drug resistant genes in human body and transfer of resistance genes between human, animal and environment.

Dr. LI briefed the current situation and monitoring platform of bacterial drug resistance in China. She also emphasized that bacterial resistance has become a global problem, which closely related to human activities.

Prof. Patrick Plesiat introduced surveillance of drug resistance and transmission of clinical pathogens in France. Prof. Richard Bonnet mainly introduced antimicrobial resistance of enteric bacilli isolated from patients. Their research priority is about extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBLs) and detection and drug resistance of enteric bacilli of carbon.

After report, they had in-depth exchanges of views on interested issues, and discussed the possibility of future cooperation. French Embassy in Beijing organized the delegation to IMCAS.
