The academic exchange symposium for Ph.D candidates of Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) & Wageningen University (WUR) was held in IMCAS on April 19th, 2011. 21 Ph.D candidates from WUR joined in the symposium.
During the symposium, eleven speakers from both sides give their academic presentations involved in a wide range of research fields including bacterial genetics, microbial physiology, molecular ecology, virology etc., and students from both sides have heated discussions about the topics. The tour of the lab is another important arrangement of the day, and foreign students show great interest in the studies which are introduced by the companions.
IMCAS and WUR have some commons in research of life sciences. The symposium is a platform for young Ph.D candidates where they can share their experience and novel thoughts in the research. It turns out to be a productive and friendship-oriented communication program and provides a strong basis for the future collaboration of the two organizations.
