From September 29 to October 10, Prof. LIU Xingzhong and Prof. YAO Yijian from Institute of Microbiology (IMCAS) represented Research Network of Edible and Medicinal Fungi, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RNEMF, CAS) participated the mycological meeting organized by the “British Mycological Society” in Italy. Over 60 mycologists worldwide joined the meeting.
The attendees conducted field research and collected species in Sampeyre, Italy. As a wild and luxuriant area in the Italian Alps, Sampeyre harbors thick woods and diversified fungi resource. Chinese mycologists collected more than 400 fungi and separated some strains. The fungi collected can be used to do comparison study with those in China and will be crucial for China’s taxonomy research in mycology. In addition, the local mycological academy promised to provide some species of fungi occasionally in the future.
RNEMF, part of the Research Network for Applied Microbiology, is co-established by CAS Key Laboratory of Systematic Mycology & Lichenology, Kunming Institute of Botany and Guangdong Institute of Microbiology. Its aim is to conduct systematic and profound research on mycology.
