On September 3, 2010, Publishing Forum for English-language Journals was launched in Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS). Mr. Barry D. Clarke, managing director of Taylor & Francis Asia Pacific and Ms Rachel Sangster representing Taylor & Francis, the oldest commercial journals publisher in the world, attended the forum.

Ms Sangster delivered a speech focusing on how to get a manuscript noticed, maximize a paper’s chance of acceptance-working with journal editors and reviewers, standards and expectations of Western journals, expand authors’ research networks-helping with peer-review and maximize citations-after a paper has been published.

In the field of microbiology, Taylor & Francis owns Mycology, Pathology, Critical Reviews in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, etc. Moreover, IMCAS has a good cooperation with Taylor & Francis as Professor CAI Lei, one of the principle investigators in CAS Key Laboratory of Systematic Mycology & Lichenology, is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Mycology. This forum will help students and researchers understand how to publish their mycological papers more effectively in international peer-reviewed journals.

Operating from a network of 20 global offices, including New York, Philadelphia, Oxford, Melbourne, Stockholm, Beijing, New Delhi, Johannesburg, Singapore and Tokyo, the Taylor & Francis Group publishes more than 1,500 peer-reviewed research journals and around 4000 new books each year. Over 70% of Taylor & Francis’ Science and Technology journals program is covered by the SCI.
