The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in U.S. elected 100 new members and 25 foreign associates “in recognition of his distinguished and continuing achievements in original research” on April 30, 2019.
Prof. George Fu Gao (GAO Fu) and Prof. Yan Nieng are the two Chinese scientists among the 25 foreign associates. Gao is the principal investigator at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director general of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), dean of medical school of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and vice president of National Natural Science Foundation of China.
