The Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) held the stone laying ceremony of “National Applied Microbial Recourse Bank and Comprehensive Research Platform” on April 11, 2016.
“National Applied Microbial Recourse Bank and Comprehensive Research Platform” is approved by China’s National Development and Reform Commission. The project is located at the west side of IMCAS, deploying to be I-shape, with floor area of 29,998 m2 and building height of 45m, with 11 floors on the ground and 2 floors underground. When the project is completed, it will be the core facility of national microbial resource management and research & development, and become the important base to improve microbiological research level.
LIU Shuangjiang, director-general of IMCAS introduced the history and the change of geographic position of the institute and the important role of the construction project. He said the project will promote the international preservation and utilization of biological resources. Li Junxiong, deputy director-general of IMCAS declared the commencement of the project.
