The Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) held academic annual meeting on December 29, 2015. Nearly 400 staffs and students gathered together and communicated with each other ardently.
Prof. HUANG Ying from State Key Laboratory of Microbial Resources introduced her recent progress in Streptomyces and resources research. While Prof. MA Luyan and CHEN Yihua introduced the discovery of enzymes that disrupt the formation of biofilms, and study on biosynthesis of antibiotics with rare sugar skeleton respectively.
Prof. LIU Hongwei from State Key Laboratory of Mycology introduced the study on the structure and function of secondary metabolites of fungi in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. He said that secondary metabolites of fungi from the Qinghai Tibet Plateau are ideal resources of new drug precursor molecules and candidate molecules. Prof. JIN Cheng presented the function and evolution of protein glycosylation of archaea and fungi. Prof. YAO Yijian briefed the species identification of widely cultivated Ganoderma lucidum in China.
Dr. SHI Yi from National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing represented CAS Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology to deliver a speech on the molecular mechanism of cell invasion by Ebola virus. While Prof. LIU Cuihua introduced the molecular mechanism of mycobacterium tuberculosis effector proteins regulate host innate immunity. FANG Min introduced the role of NK cells in mouse anti influenza virus infection.
Prof. KONG Zhaosheng from State Key Laboratory of plant genomics introduced microtubule regulation during plant growth and immunity. Dr. YE Jian shared his study on the molecular mechanism of the indirect between the super virus and the super vector.
In CAS Key Laboratory of Microbial Physiological and Metabolic Engineering, Dr. LIN Baixue presented the design of whole cell catalysis of high value added chemicals and LOU Chunbo introduced the synthetic biology quality component mining and applications based on microbial.
Prof. DONG Xiuzhu, deputy-director, hosted the meeting and she said it was the passion and support from all made the academic annual meeting the year-end great event. There are 13 oral reports of this annual meeting.
