The award ceremony of the 16th Wu Jieping-Paul Janssen Medical & Pharmaceutical Award (Wu-Janssen Award) was held in the Fourth Military Medical University in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province on December 3, 2015.

Academician Gao at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was honored Basic Medical Award for his great contributions in the field of cross-host communication mechanism of pathogenic microorganisms and Immunity, the epidemiology of an occasional pathogen, public health policy and global health strategy research.

This year, a total of 13 excellent scientists in China's medical and health field are awarded, among whom two from basic medical, six from clinical medicine, two from pharmacy, and two from public health.

Initiated in 1994, Wu-Janssen Award is one of the most influential and authoritative of non-government awards on medical health in China. There have been 364 winners of the award so far. Among them, ten were honored Special Contribution Award.
