Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) held the 2015 graduation ceremony & the 17th Director-Faculty Scholarship on July 1, 2015. Participants included LIU Shuangjiang, director-general of IMCAS, DONG Xiuzhu, deputy director-general of IMCAS, FANG Rongxiang, academician, chairman of Academic Degree Committee, prize-winning teachers and students, education officials and graduates of 2015.
After the National Anthem, LIU Shuangjiang first delivered a speech. He congratulated the graduates on their great performance on achieving knowledge and ability. He expressed his appreciation in the graduates’ contributions to the progress of IMCAS. He also encouraged students to do important things to fulfill their missions in the future. The kernel of science is longing for the truth. If everyone sticks to their ideals, try their best, they will make the dream come true in this revolutionary era.
In the following award ceremony, LIU Hongwei announced the winners of Director-Faculty Scholarship. LIU Shuangjiang and DONG Xiuzhu presented award to the winners. HUANG Li and other three professors, and four graduates including Bing Liu, won the prizes.
The delegates of prize-winning teachers and students gave reports afterwards. QIU Jinlong expressed his pleasure to win the prize with honor, gave worm congratulations to the graduates, and encouraged them to keep strong will and seek to success in the future. He hoped that student would keep their supervisors in mind and keep in touch with them. WANG Lin represented graduates to express her appreciation in the guidance and help from teachers, the patience and encouragement from laboratory members, and she was eager to take the challenge in the new area. She also gave her best wishes to the IMCAS.
After the speeches, award ceremony was commenced. LIU Shuangjiang, FANG Rongxiang issued degree certificates to the graduates, set their tassels straight and took photos.
FANG Rongxiang summed the ceremony and hoped that graduates to balance work and life well and wished them a well-going work and happy life.
The farewell party came after the ceremony. DONG Xiuzhu extended greetings from the leader group to the graduates; LI Zhimeng, president of Graduate Student Union, gave thanks and blessings of all the students to them. Students at institute sang songs, such as “Farewell” and “Gardenia in Blossom”. It was the most memorizing point that QIAN Wei and his graduate, DENG Chaoying, sang a song “Time to say goodbye”. The party was highlighted by their great performance.
