The 10th Beijing Graduate Forum of Life Science, together with the ceremony for the 2015 Outstanding Graduate Award of Beijing Institute of Life Sciences & Sanofi Pasteur Biomedical, was successfully held in IMCAS on May 24. This forum was sponsored by the Graduate Union of Beijing Institute of Life Sciences (BILS) CAS and undertaken by the Graduat Association of IMCAS. Honored guests included KANG Le, Academician CAS, LI Junxiong, Party Secetary of IMCAS, DU Heng, Associate R&D Director of Sanofi Pasteur Co. Ltd, SU Ruifeng, Director of Department of Research and Education, BLSA, and Prof. CHENG Hao.
Fifteen invited speakers are outstanding graduates from Institute of Microbiology, Beijing Institute of Genomics, Institute of Botany, Institute of Zoology, Institute of Biophysics, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, and Beijing Institute of Life Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Peking University, Tsinghua University, China Agriculture University, and National Institute of Biological Science, Beijing. They presented excellent reports and shared their research works.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Mr. LI Junxiong, Party Secetary of IMCAS, and Mr. KANG Le, President of Beijing Institute of Life Science, made speeches respectively. They reviewed the funding history of the forum, congratulated the award-winners, and wished a complete success. Besides, they hoped that graduates could learn from the award-winners to be more active and to make more progress.
President KANG Le and Mz. DU Heng together presented awards to winners of this year’s Outstanding Graduate Award of Beijing Institute of Life Sciences & Sanofi Pasteur Biomedical. LIU Ningning from IMCAS made a speech on behalf of all the winners. She expressed sincere thanks to BILS, IMCAS, and Sanofi Pasteur Co. Ltd and her determination to make more excellent achievements with contiguous hard works. In the following speech given by Mz. DU Heng, she wished that more graduates could devote their careers to research on disease and immunology, for the benefit of mankind.
After a short opening ceremony, fifteen outstanding graduates presented wonderful speeches. Their research works were published by top journals such as Nature, Cell, and PNAS. The reports covered several fields and demonstrated a feast on scientific research. After each report, there were very active questions and discussions from the audiences. At the breaks, there were also interactions and talks on common interests among graduates from different units and research fields.
The success of this forum had provided a good platform on academic exchange, for graduates in different institutes on life science at Beijing. Through this forum, knowledge and inspirations collided, and communication and cooperation among graduates were promoted.
