SLAS (The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) welcomed 400 participants all over the world to the Fourth Annual SLAS Asia Conference and Exhibition which theme is “Come Transform Research”, held at Crowne Plaza Century Park in Shanghai from April 9-10, 2015. Scientists, technology providers, business leaders and students gathered in changing the future of laboratory science and technology in high-throughput screening and drug discovery.
Nobel laureate Prof. K.Barry Sharpless from The Scripps Research Institute (Visiting professor in the Institute of Microbiology, CAS (IMCAS) and Academician George Fu Gao of IMCAS gave the Keynote Lectures. Prof. Lixin Zhang from IMCAS gave a talk and accepted the president position of SLAS Asia. His team also provided 9 posters to share with attendees for their achievements in finding lead compounds from the extract library of marine microorganisms and increasing their outputs through synthetic biology approaches.
SLAS is a global community of more than 18,000 scientists—from academia, government and industry—collectively focused on leveraging the power of technology to achieve scientific objectives. The group was formed In July 2010 with the merger of the former Association for Laboratory Automation and the former Society for Biomolecular Sciences.
