Dr. Lucilla Spini, Program Officer of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) first visited the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) on May 29, 2014. Prof. DONG Xiuzhu, Deputy Director-General of IMCAS and Prof. LI Yin, Director of CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Biotechnology (CoEBio) met and talked with Dr. Spini.

Prof. DONG delivered a warm welcome address and then gave a brief introduction of IMCAS. She promised to provide the great supports for the development of CoEBio and promotion of cooperation with TWAS as always.

Prof. LI Yin presented the history and progress of CoEBio, focused on the creation of Biotechnology information system network in Developing Countries. He also displayed the advanced innovative plans such as talent education scheme, organizing biotech training courses & workshops, and promoting international cooperation within developing countries.

Dr. Spini expressed her thanks and deep impression with CoEBio’s achievements has made. On behalf of TWAS, Dr. Spini gave her pledge of substantial supports for the future development of CoEBio. Meanwhile, she is look forward to CoEBio’s positive efforts on strengthening mutual exchanges and cooperation in biotechnology among Developing Countries.

Ms. FENG Kai, Program officer from Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS; Dr. YU Bo, Deputy Director of CoEBio, etc. joined the meeting.
