Workshop of Research Network of Applied Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Institute of Microbiology on April 26, 2011.

The theme of the workshop is informationization of microbial research network. Representatives from coordination center in Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) introduce and demonstrate the management platform of microbiological research data and data interaction. Participants discuss the principle of data sharing, data security and sharing approaches.

Surong Hui, deputy director-general of Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology stresses that data of microbial resource was of strategic importance as micro-organisms. He points out that CAS will continue to support to build a stable platform for informationization of microbial resources in China’s Twelfth Five-Year Plan.

41 participants attend the workshop including Philippe Desmeth, President of World Federation for Culture Collections and Hideaki Sugawara, former director of World Data Center for Microorganisms.
