Symposium on Immunology and Disease Held Successfully

On June 29-30, 2009, Symposium on Immunology and Disease, cosponsored by National Institute of Biological Sciences- Beijing (NIBS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), was held at Institute of Biophysics, CAS.

Minister of Health Zhu Chen, CAS Executive Deputy President Chunli Bai and CAS Deputy President Jiayang Li sent their congratulatory letters respectively.

The symposium was chaired by CAS Member Bo Tian from Institute of Microbiology. Director of CAS Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology, NIBS Deputy President George Fu Gao, and CAMS Deputy President Qimin Zhan were elected the secretary-generals of the conference. More than 20 experts of CAS and CAMS, as well as Prof. Zhinan Yin from Nankai University delivered lectures. Over 300 scientists and postgraduates concerning the field of immunology and disease also attended the event, rendering it grand and jolly.

The symposium comprised 6 themes, i.e. immunity and tumor, immunotherapy and vaccine, immunology and organ transplantation, autoimmunity, immunity and infectious diseases, as well as native immunity. As invited experts, IMCAS Prof. Bin Gao and Prof. George Fu Gao made lectures “From Submarine to Targeted Tumor Therapy” and “Molecular Basis of Polypeptide MHC Recognition of T-cell” respectively. With those wonderful speeches, the experts brought forth the latest achievements in relevant fields, which greatly enlightened the young graduate students.
