On May 20, 2008, the Sino-Dutch Industrial Biotechnology Workshop was organized by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. More than 60 scholars from both sides, including some from TNO, Netherlands, participated the workshop. Topics of the workshop involved bioorganic chemistry, bioprocess technology, bioseperation technology, environmental biotechnology, industrial microbiology, process/product design engineering to bio-based sustainable industrial chemistry.  The workshop was successful and served as a good platform to exchange thoughts, spark innovative ideas, and explore potential cooperations. 

After the workshop, the Dutch delegation had a tour of the Institute of Microbiology.
