2024 Call for Applications: National Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) at Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences

The Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS, http://www.im.cas.cn) was founded on December 3, 1958, located in the Olympic Village of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chaoyang District, Beijing, adjacent to the "Bird's Nest" and the national 5A-level forest park. IMCAS is one of the largest comprehensive national research institutes of microbiological science in the world, and takes pathogenic microorganisms and immunity, microbial resources, and microbial technology as its main research fields.

In order to strengthen research capacity and optimize discipline layout as well as team organization, we call for applications of principal investigators in microbiology related fields all over the world. Research areas include, but are not limited to Molecular biology and transformative microbial technology; Microbiome and bioinformatics; Gene editing; Environmental microorganisms; Microbial diversity and biological big data; Microbial interaction and Microbiome engineering; Modern vaccines and anti-infective drugs; Pathogen-host (humans, plants and animals) interaction, etc.

 

Competitive research fund & salary package:

The Institute is committed to assisting the selected candidates to apply for the Excellent Youth (Overseas) Program and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Talent Program support.

The Institute offers an internationally competitive compensation and benefits package, start-up funding, and ample laboratory space. Independently select and employ all kinds of staff, allocate 3-5 business establishment indicators, 2-4 graduate students per year, and a number of labor dispatch personnel; Independent recruitment of postdocs, the institute and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly subsidize postdoctoral salaries and five insurance and two funds.

To provide support conditions for world-class medium and large equipment sharing platform, equipped with high-quality talent turnover houses and house purchase subsidies located around the institute in the South of the Science Park, Zijin Academy and Aolin Chunxiao, to assist children to enter kindergartens under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and related schools under the agreement. Specific criteria will be determined in consultation with the selected candidates.

 

Requirements:

1. Born after January 1, 1984 (inclusive); have a doctoral degree.

2. Applicants who have not returned to China full-time, after obtaining a doctoral degree, have obtained formal teaching or research positions in overseas universities, research institutions, and enterprise research and development institutions, and have worked for more than 36 consecutive months; for those who have obtained a doctoral degree overseas and have outstanding performance, the requirements for working years may be appropriately relaxed;

3. Applicants who have achieved first-class scientific or technological achievements recognized by international peer experts, and have the potential to become an academic leader or outstanding talent in the field.?

Resume, five representative papers, future research plan, and at least three recommendation letters from domestic and overseas peer experts in the field (Please send recommendation letters to liuy@im.ac.cn).
