2010 Graduation Ceremony at IMCAS

Graduation Ceremony of Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) & Awarding Ceremony of Institute chief Award, Teaching Award was held on the morning of June 30, 2010.

At 9:30 am, the graduates in academicals and trencher cap took photos with their supervisors together. The moment of joy was recorded by the camera and would be cherished by everyone present.

At 10.00 pm, the graduation ceremony started in A102, the conference room and Jun ZHAO, Director of Human Resources and Education hosted the ceremony.

First of all, Prof. Li HUANG, Executive Deputy Director-General of IMCAS, delivered a speech. He said this year was the most fruitful year for granting degrees in IMCAS, granting 50 graduates doctor degrees and 26 master degrees. Prof. HUANG congratulated graduates on their perseverance and efforts for their success. He also thanked supervisors and students for their academic contribution to China, CAS and their scientific spirit. He encouraged them to continue pursuing progress, remain enthusiasm for career and a peaceful state of mind for life.

Songlin LIU, Party Committee Secretary announced the name list of award-winners. Xiaobao YING and the other ten students were granted Institute chief Award. Professor Huarong TAN and Professor Lixin ZHANG were granted respectively outstanding or excellent Teaching Award. Prof. TAN, on behalf of the award-supervisors, reminded students of working harder in their new phase of life.

Ying ZHUO, a student representative, thanked all the staff, supervisors for their years’ of care. She said IMCAS was a holy place of science where many students pursued their study. She hoped all the students would carry forward the spirit of IMCAS and pursue excellence.

At last, Mr. Jun ZHAO, on behalf of Department of Human Resources and Graduate Education, thanked all the supervisors and students for their contribution to the progress of IMCAS education. He expressed his best wishes to IMCAS, supervisors and graduates.

This ceremony was not only an ending but also a new beginning for graduates’ future life.
