Microbiology China, founded in 1974, is a monthly, a peer-reviewed journal published by The Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with Chinese Society for Microbiology.

Microbiology China is a comprehensive journal focusing on basic research and high-tech innovation and application in microbiology applications. By publishing high-quality papers on basic research, applied technology, and interdisciplinary fields, we aim to establish a domestic and international academic exchange platform to promote the development of microbial resources, breakthroughs in biotechnology, and industrial applications.

Microbiology China has been indexed in JST, Chemistry Abstract, CAS, CNKI, and been included as a Chinese Core Journal, a Chinese Core Journal of Science and Technology, and a CSCD Core Journal. According to the statistics of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, the journal has won the honor of "One Hundred Outstanding Chinese Academic Journals " for 12 years since 2012 with the first comprehensive evaluation score of domestic "Microbiology and Virology journals", and was selected as "Chinese Quality Science and Technology Journals". Microbiology China selected as a Chinese Leading Journal in the Excellent Action Plan for Chinese Science and Technology Journals in 2024.
