Research Interests
Surveillance and early warning, genetic evolution, cross-species transmission and pathogenic mechanisms, and comprehensive biosafety control strategies of Influenza virus, coronavirus and other emerging viral diseases.
Study content and significance of the study group
--research contents:
Active early warning research of viruses: explore mutated or new influenza viruses or other emerging viruses, study their gene evolution and origins, epidemic distribution, host range, pathogenicity and transmission ability, and combined with human environment and other factors to warn the risk of virus epidemic and outbreak. Pathogenesis and transmission mechanism of viruses: establish cellular and animal infection models to study the molecular basis of the altered host specificity, pathogenicity and transmission ability of viruses, such as variant or new influenza viruses. Comprehensive biosafety control strategies: updating or establishing detection methods based on the discovery of variant or new viruses; designing vaccine and drug targets based on the establishment of infection model and the clarification of pathogenic mechanism; and developing comprehensive biosafety control strategies based on the pathogenic characteristics of virus infection and existing prevention and control methods.
--research meaning:
It provides theoretical basis and technical support for high-energy early warning of new virus epidemic and outbreak, elucidation of pathogenic and transmission mechanism, and formulation of comprehensive biosafety prevention and control strategies.
