IMCAS Holds the Fifth National Microbiology Postgraduate and Post Doctorate Academic Forum

The fifth national microbiology postgraduate and post doctorate academic forum was kicked off in Institution of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) on the afternoon of Nov. 22, 2016.

 

Prof. KANG Le, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered keynote speech on the opening ceremony. He introduced his group’s latest research progress. His innovative thinking, rigorous design, accurate inference opened new research thinking. Prof. DONG Xiuzhu, deputy-director general from IMCAS delivered a speech named Microbiome, Human Being and Earth Health and introduced the contents and methods for research of microbiome with novel and detailed examples.

 

18 postgraduates and post doctorates demonstrated their latest research progress on the hot issues like Ebola and Zika virus closely related to human diseases, microbial species and community diversity, microbial genetic manipulation and biotechnology, soluble microbial products analysis, microbial mineralization etc., and conducted in-depth discussion on Nov. 23.

 

On the closing ceremony in the afternoon of Nov. 23, Dr. WU Wenping, the R&D director of Novozymes (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Prof. YANG Keqian from IMCAS awarded the Excellent Report Award and the 2016 Novozymes scholarship of IMCAS to ten outstanding students.

 

Dr. WU also made an invited report named Apply microbiome as tool for new product development in industrial and agricultural biotechnology field—today and future, introduced the latest progress achieved by Novozymes on industrial enzyme preparation and microbiome preparation by applying microbiome research, and provided career employment guidance for the students.

 

Over 100 post doctorates, postgraduates and senior grade undergraduates from the colleges, such as China Agricultural University, Shandong University, China University of Geosciences, Hebei University, National Institutes for Food and Drug Control and institutes from Chinese Academy of Sciences, like Institute of Zoology, Beijing Institute of Genomics, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Institute of Microbiology attended the forum.
