ZHUANG Awarded Excellent Worker of CAS

Prof. ZHUANG Wenying is awarded “Excellent Worker of Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences” in the Closing Ceremony of 2011 Working Conference of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She is the first professor receiving such honor in Institute of Microbiology, CAS.

Devoted in the study of mycology for over 30 years, Prof ZHUANG is a renowned mycologist and fungal biologist in China, with her main focus on the taxonomy and phylogeny of fungi. She has discovered many new fungal taxa, contributed to fungal systematics through integrated biological approaches that have renovated traditional treatments. She also established Rhizoscyphus as a segregated new genus from the genus Hymenscyphus.
