To deal with the prevalence of Influenza A (H1N1), Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) develops “Information Platform of Influenza A (H1N1)”, which integrates the genomic data of the epidemic in North America and information of the influenza virus. In collaboration with the CAS Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology, the institute has initiated a series of activities, including molecular epidemiology research, data integration, software development, and information issuance.

At present, the Comprehensive Information Platform of North American Influenza A can not only obtain news concerning the pandemic, but also provide the scientists with such free services as data download, distribution of laboratory-confirmed cases, dissertation retrieval, up-to-date research progress, as well as the genetic sequences and protein structures issuing by world’s major databases. The main functions it has achieved include the integration of latest literature and bioinformatics data, bioinformatics computation, data retrieval, online science popularization and news roundup. In the future, new services will also be developed, covering information platform of diagnosis and checking, analysis platform of molecular epidemiology, reporting system of latest progress, research focuses and science popularization, etc.
