Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Behzod Musayev said on one of the seminars on COVID-19 vaccination that the China's Vaccine is safe and effective, and plays an important role in fighting COVID-19 in Uzbekistan.

Musayev said that he was one of the first people in Uzbekistan to vaccinate China's COVID-19 vaccine, adding he was quite satisfied with China's recombinant protein COVID-19 vaccine and he didn’t have any side effects (after vaccination) and antibodies had been produced in his body.

The recombinant protein vaccine jointly developed by the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China's Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. entered phase III clinical trials in Uzbekistan last December. In early March this year, Uzbekistan approved the vaccine for use.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, most COVID-19 vaccines vaccinated in Uzbekistan are Chinese recombinant protein vaccines.

In early August this year, Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. reached an agreement with Uzbek pharma Jurabek Laboratories on the local production of the ZF-UZ-VAC2001 vaccine in Uzbekistan. In mid-August, the Uzbekistan approved the registration of the vaccine produced by Jurabek Laboratories.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health reported on Sept. 7 that Uzbekistan has received more than 15.35 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and over 2.34 million people have been fully vaccinated. (Xinhua/Cai Guodong)
